ITHACA -- Deputies have arrested a father and son and are seeking two other suspects in an emergency-room assault connected to some Southside stabbings. Johnny F. Lucena, 36, of Ithaca, son Johnny J. Lucena, 18, of Freeville, and two other males allegedly entered Cayuga Medical Center's emergency room and punched and kicked a male being treated for a forearm laceration, Tompkins County Sheriff's officials announced Wednesday. The Lucenas are charged with second-degree attempted gang assault and third-degree burglary, both Class D felonies, sheriff's officials added.
The incident occurred about 7:15 p.m. Friday, and deputies and Trumansburg Police officers responded, sheriff's officials said. Staff had called 911 and intervened to protect the patients before law enforcement arrived, and officers and deputies secured the facility within minutes, according to statements from hospital officials, who didn't give further details.
