The problem: Is Wegmans stealing the tomato? Note the sepals on each tomato: there are five. Note the type of tomato, and the angle. Slightly out of orbit, both.
"You cannot steal a tomato logo," said Brad Edmondson, a local scribbler who should know better.
We think you can. Wegmans has been bullying other products off its shelves for the better part of a year now and replacing important things like cat food and diet soda with its own brand.
We think the WEGMASTERS have bigger plans. Stay alert, stay tuned. And. Shop at both places. Cheap cheese at Greenstar is better than Wegs and, also, G-star keeps its seltzer cold and boasts a brand of Poland Springs (owned by Nestlé but wotthell we're not about to quibble about over fizzy agua vitae mineralé), namely Essence of Mandarin Orange. Chad Coles, local hero, is an exotique and has to have his waters just right.
